Santorini is a game I’ve been aware of for a while, and the game looks amazingly fun and yet simple to play. The game has high visual appeal and also features Greek mythological characters. In Santorini players are said mythological characters/gods and are attempting to aid villagers in building “a beautiful village in the middle of the Aegean Sea.” The 3D board looks great and so do the miniatures. With the popularity of games like Exploding Kittens and Kittens in a Blender lately, I thought this might appeal to some out there. According to the Kickstarter Campaign:

“‘Make a Mess is a highly convivial and mischievous board game to play with family and friends, based on the original comic character ‘Catsass’. Created by French illustrator Claude Combacau, Catsass won a Golden Blog Awards 2015 in the “Best Comic” category.” “Developed by board game designer Delphin Druelle at Eclosion Games, Make a Mess’ features the comic’s perfectly irreverent cat making an uncontrollable mess in the house – while trying not to get caught.”

Twisted is a Steampunk miniatures game currently on Kickstarter. The game is set at a 32mm scale and the models look fantastic! From the campaign:

“Set in an uniquely interesting steampunk universe, Twisted’s absorbing gameplay and linked story-driven missions create a real emotional connection between you and your characters on the tabletop. Every character has an original backstory and distinctive role within the Twisted universe: guiding them through our richly-developed environments and exciting encounters will have you on the edge of your seat and wanting more!”

“But beware the power of the Engine! The ever-present influence of the mysterious steampunk Engine pervades the world of Twisted. What makes playing Twisted excitingly unique is that the Engine itself brings a new and intriguing element to every encounter: the Eye of the Engine card deck and the unique ‘Favour of the Engine’ game mechanic give the Engine an active role in the actual gameplay.”

Evolution is one of the most fun, innovative and strategic games I have ever played, and the Evolution: Flight expansion multiplied the number of options and blew the strategic value through the roof. Now the Evolution: CLIMATE expansion is on Kickstarter and I couldn’t be more excited! There’s a couple of different purchasing options too, just like there was for Flight. From the Evolution: CLIMATE Kickstarter Campaign page:

Smart Money Maker is in its last week on Kickstarter! SMM is an collaborative, economic game where players try to pay off debts and attempt to have the largest amount of money left. From the Smart Money Maker Kickstarter Campaign:

Players have to collaborate: they receive a portfolio of cards that represent the New Economy models. The cards can be traded in for cash when they are used to pay off debts. After the whole deck has been used up, if all of the debts have been paid off by the players, the player who has the most cash wins the game.”

Chimera Sanctuary is definitely worth taking a look at for those who appreciate beautiful card artwork. The game is inexpensive, looks great and promises to play in a short amount of time (around 45 minutes). A trick-taking game, Chimera Sanctuary sounds like it has the potential to be fun, and again, the art is amazing. Visit the Chimera Sanctuary Kickstarter Campaign page by clicking here.

Wolf & Hound

Wolf & Hound

We were contacted by Dan at Ninja Star Games and asked to showcase their new game currently on Kickstarter, Wolf & Hound. Naturally, we said yes! Wolf & Hound is a partnership game where players work in teams to outsmart their opponents by being the last team to have sheep left in their pasture. Through the manipulation of both the wolf and the hound using cards, players maneuver their way to victory. The game looks like a fun, casual game that would be great to play with kids!
