In My Crosshairs #5

In My Crosshairs

Too many great looking games, too little time… and money! Still, one must make an effort to purchase/play/obsess over them all!

Firefly: Shiny Dice

It’s really amazing (and probably a little bit creepy) how much I love Firefly, and I tend to purchase almost anything that has Mal’s face on it. The Browncoats’ obsessive desire to purchase Firefly merchandise and/or games, and this has led to some fairly crappy games based in the ‘Verse. Shiny Dice, however,  looks like a promising, Zombie Dice-style, push your luck dice game.

The dice in the game may look familiar to former passengers of Serenity; gracing the dice are Niska’s glasses, Jayne’s cunning hat, Saffron’s lips, and Wash’s dinosaur among others! Players push their luck by rolling and rerolling dice to complete missions and carry passengers to gain points. Firefly: Shiny Dice is available now, so find a job and keep flyin’!

Five Tribes: The Artisans of Naqala

Five Tribes Expansion

Five Tribes was one of the few games that I looked forward to from my first hearing that actually lived up to my expectations. In Five Tribes players manipulate meeples of 5 different colors to gain their powers, and the expansion, The Artisans of Naqala, adds a 6th tribe to the game. While this is problematic to the accuracy of the game’s title, it does add even more depth and strategy to an already highly strategic game.

The expansion adds not only a new tribe of meeples, but also 2 new Djinns, mountains and tents (to add to the palm trees and palaces), new tiles and even a new score pad!
