Jynx is a hilarious new card game, inspired by games like Contract Rummy, Cards Against Humanity, and Secret Hitler. Players have to perform silly acts to prevent each other from winning the game. The 154 card deck, that encompasses a minimalist aesthetic, is made for 2-6 players, ages seven and older. The game is made up of seven card combinations called “chapters” each with a unique set of rules. The first to complete all seven chapters wins, or if two people complete them at the same time, the player with the least amount of points wins.
I enjoy a good, engaging card game to escape the complexities of full board games sometimes. JYNX looks like it provides a fun and simple gameplay experience. From the JYNX Kickstarter campaign:
“JYNX is a Contract Rummy inspired physical card game that compounds hilarious must-perform actions on players—by players—to prevent them from winning. Each game consists of seven card combinations, called “chapters,” and the rules for each chapter are unique. The first player to complete the seventh chapter wins. If two or more complete the seventh chapter together, then the player with the least amount of points wins. Because of its unique interactivity, Jynx can be played with a wholesome G Rating, PG-13 Rating, or R Rating+depending on the players.”

Ghostel is a dice placement game where players are ghosts who attempt to scare the living away from a haunted hotel. The game promises to play out in approximately 45 minutes to an hour and supports 2 to 4 players. From the Ghostel Kickstarter Campaign page:
“Creepstone Manor has been closed for nearly a hundred years, standing dark and silent above the town of Creepstone, and that’s just the way resident ghost Spookie likes it! But now, the manor has been reopened and turned into a hotel for the living. You play the part of one of Spookie’s ghostly minions, charged with ridding the house of these warm-bodied usurpers. Use your skills of terror to send them fleeing into the night and win Spookie’s patronage. Who will be top ghost?”

Anyone who has been a reader for a while knows that I love social deduction games. In Toast! players attempt to outsmart the other party goers by avoiding drinking from a poisoned chalice and successfully poisoning their own target. From the Toast! Kickstarter campaign:
“It has become an unfortunate trend amongst the ruthless aristocracy of Otravia to assassinate their rivals by poisoning during the toasts at their formal functions. In an attempt to discourage this, an elaborate and bizarre etiquette has developed around these toasts. However, this has only succeeded in weeding out the less cunning, ruthless and lucky, with those that remain being true masters of this deadly sport….”
“Toast! is a quick and casual social deduction game designed for the start or end of an evening’s board gaming, or as an after dinner game. It features elegant and tactile components – goblets, napkins and glass pebbles representing wine and poison – to set the scene for a very civilised party game of deception and death!”
The game has already received high praise from reviewers and it is one I am very interested in trying! To visit the Toast! Kickstarter Campaign page, click here!
